My livestock

The hawk

I've got a 1978 Honda CB400 T2 Hawk. As of this writing I've put 5000 miles on it since I got it 14 months ago. It's a great little bike. It's very simple and so easy to work on. It doesn't break easily. It's not too powerful to get you into trouble. And it rides well enough that I've scraped the pegs on occasion. Unfortunately, it doesn't have enough power for me to have a bunch of fun. Top speed seems to be abut 75 or 80 mph w/out the windscreen.

About this bike

The rec.moto.reviews archive has a picture of a differnt bike called a CB400. It's quite similar to mine, excepting the extra pair of cylinders.

Honda made the CB400 Hawk in 1978 and 1979. In following years it made a couple other bikes with the same engine, and then increased the displacement slightly to 450cc. This bike was sold under the name Nighthawk.

Mods on my bike

If you or someone you know owns a CB400, please drop ">me an email.

I'm keeping a service log of the bike. It'll help when it's time to sell the bike. It's also nice to have to see where I stand on the maintainance schedule

The Police Special

I have a brand-new-to-me, ancient-to-the-world 1984 Kawasaki KZ1000P2 Police bike. As I understand, it's the 1979 KZ1000 w/ some police mods, like serious crash bars, saddlebags, a cushy single seat, luggage, and lots of amps available for accessories. It needs a lot of work, so you'll be seeing a service log here soon, which you'll probably find as un-interesting as the log for the above Hawk. Here's a list of things that need to be done:
