Guinevere was born on the 6th day of the oldmoon in the month of Alturick, 1354, the year of the bow. Her friends all called her Guin for short.
Her parents were killed in a raid by the hobgoblins from the southern territories in 1360. Hiding below the floor, Guin watched her parents suffer a long and torturous death. Guin was six at the time.
With her mothers dying breath, Guinevere heard, "I only regret that I will never be able to tell Guinevere about her real heritage, her real parents."
Guinevere lay frightened and alone as the monsters tore apart her life above her. Then they set fire to the thatch roof of her home, and as the smoke drifted down through the floorboards, and she lost consciousness. She woke to a cold wetness dripping on her forehead and sunlight drifting in from above. She lay underneath her old home where her adopted mother had hidden her for several days, afraid of what she would find in the world above. She lost track of time and her hunger and fear consumed her. It was then, as she lay softly crying under the house that Marcus, a woodsman of the High Forest who had visited their village many times before, found her.
At night, she would often wonder about her mothers last words... "Never told Guinevere about her real heritage.... Never told Guinevere about her real heritage." What real heritage was she talking about? Were the only parents she knew not her real parents? Guin always felt like she didn't fit in, that something was wrong, that she was better than the others, however, she kept those feelings to herself. Now with her mothers last words, she started thinking about what, who she really was.
Guin trained with Marcus for ten years. As she neared the end of her training, a welling of revenge took hold of her heart. She had a growing desire to rid the world of all hobgoblins, starting with the ones that had killed her parents. Seeing this, and being unable to abate it, Marcus sent her on her way to seek Drizzt do'Urden in Icewind Dale. As a departing gift, Marcus gave Guinevere the falcon she had helped train, Pebbles.
With tears in her eyes and hope in her heart, Guinevere left the only home she knew and headed out towards Icewind Dale hoping to find the dark elf ranger of legend and some glimpse into her past and future.
