Forgotten Realms Calendar
Time in the Forgotten Realms is very similar to time as we know it. The FR year consists of 365 days divided into 12 months each having exactly 30 days. The extra 5 days fall between certain months as special days, having different meanings in various parts of the realms. The months are seperated into 3 ten day cycles(weeks) called Newmoon, Midmonth, and Oldmoon. Throughout the Realms weeks are known as eves, tendays, weeks, domen, hyrar, or rides depending on the region. There are no day names like Monday or Friday, days are referred to as "the fifth day of midmonth" or the third day of oldmoon." The days are 24 hour cycles with each hour being 60 minutes, and each minute being 10 segments known as clicks (a segment being 6 seconds).

When creating a player character, at some point in the creation process you determine the characters age. Great! But when does the character get older? What is your characters date of birth? This system below will help to determine your characters birthday.

You can also have it automatically done here.

  1. Roll Percentile dice. A result of 01 or 02 means the character was born on one of the 5 special days. A result of 03-100 means the character was born in one of the months.
  2. If the character was born on one of the special days, roll 1d10.
    • 1-2 is Midwinters Day
    • 3-4 is Greengrass Day
    • 5-6 is Midsummers Day
    • 7-8 is Harvestide Day
    • 9-0 is Moonfest Day
  3. If the character was born in one of the months, roll 1d12.
    • 1 - Hammer
    • 2 - Alturiak
    • 3 - Ches
    • 4 - Tarsakh
    • 5 - Mirtul
    • 6 - Kythorn
    • 7 - Flamerule
    • 8 - Eleasias
    • 9 - Eleint
    • 10 - Marpenoth
    • 11 - Uktar
    • 12 - Nightal
  4. Once the month has been determined, roll 1d6.
    • 1-2 is Newmoon (week 1)
    • 3-4 is Midmonth (week 2)
    • 5-6 is Oldmoon (week 3)
  5. Then roll 1d10 for the exact day.
  6. If you really want to go crazy with this, you can get down to the minute.
    • Rol1 1d6. 1-3 = AM, 4-6 = PM.
    • Roll 1d12 for the hour.
    • Roll 1d6-1 and 1d10 for the minute.
      Example: Let's say I rolled a 4 on the d6 (PM) and a 7 on the d12 (7PM), then rolled a 1 on the d6(1-1=0) and a 4 on the d10. My birth time would be 7:04 PM.
  7. To determine the year you were born, ask your GM what year the campaign takes place in, and subtract your age.
  8. THAT'S IT!
